Goodreads description--A New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling book. Archer's Voice is a full-length, standalone romance.

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

THIS IS A STANDALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY SAGITTARIUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I don't remember reading any reviews or seeing anything specific about Archer's Voice when it first released, but I guess it was the black and white cover really that pulled me in first. I honestly don't even know if I read the book description at all until writing this review. I'm sure I probably did. Anyway, Archer's Voice ended up being quite a letdown for me.

The first thing that I noticed was the writing style. While I won't say that it was bad, I did feel like there was a slight lack of maturity. I'm not even really sure how to describe it. I think the best example might be the sentence that said:

-"Hey," I said quietly, smiling a small smile at him and bending down to help him pick up the books.
I haven't looked at other books to see how many times they've used the word "smile" but when searching for this quote I was surprised to see how often it was used in Archer's Voice.

My next issue was the amount of physical scenes. I felt like almost 2/3 of Archer's Voice was comprised of some kind of sexual scene. I really just skimmed those parts since it began to get a bit ridiculous for my preferences.

I never felt like any part of Archer's Voice was unpredictable. I wasn't surprised at any of the "twists", and I found myself rolling my eyes a couple of times. I was ALMOST impressed with what I thought was an unexpected turn of events there at the end of the book, but then things turned out pretty predictable afterall.

There were a few quotes that I highlighted because I liked them:

-I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don't know how.

-How do you teach a person to trust in something none of us can guarantee?

Archer's Voice wasn't all bad even though I've focused on things that I was unhappy with in this review. Overall, I don't think Archer's Voice was the right fit for me in writing style or content so I'm giving it 2.5 Stars. Have you read Archer's Voice? What did you think? Let me know!

  1. I haven't read Archer's Voice, but I have heard of it. I don't think I'll be reading it though. There are so many NA books out there that I think that I would enjoy more than this one. Plus, I don't like the idea that a majority of the book was sexual. That would probably grate on my nerves.

  2. Yeah, unfortunately, I can't say that I'd recommend this one. There are much better books out there to spend your time reading. Thanks for commenting Genni!
